Founded in 2024, Eskar Capital Corporation is an independent investment boutique registered as an exempt market dealer (EMD) with the Quebec Securities Commission. Eskar leverages its professional expertise and relationships in the equity and debt capital markets to provide investment banking services and placement capabilities that benefit corporate issuers and accredited investors.

Meet the team
Mathieu Séguin, CFA
Partner, Director
Mathieu Séguin is President, CFO, CCO and Director for Eskar Capital Corporation. Prior to co-founding Eskar, Mathieu was VP Corporate Development at Monarch Mining and Monarch Gold. The latter was acquired by Yamana Gold in 2021 in a $200M take-over transaction.
Prior to his journey on the corporate side, Mathieu was an investment banker for more than 15 years mainly with Desjardins Securities and Industrial Alliance Securities where he covered the Quebec-based issuers and global mining companies. He's a CFA charterholder since 2006 and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (BAA) from the HEC Montreal.
Tom Nikoletopoulos
Partner, Director
Tom Nikoletopoulos is CEO, Secretary and Director for Eskar Capital. A seasoned professional in capital markets, Tom's bringing over 15 years of experience in capital raising, with a notable focus on flow-through financings. His expertise in structuring and executing financing solutions has made him a key player in the capital markets, helping clients navigate the complexities of funding while maximizing their financial opportunities. Tom's strategic approach and deep understanding of investor relations have been instrumental in driving successful outcomes for both the firm and its clients. Prior to co-founding Eskar, Tom was Vice-president at Laurentian Bank Securities.
What is an Exempt Market Dealer ?
Exempt Market Dealers (EMDs) are fully registered securities dealers who engage in the business of trading in prospectus exempt securities, or any securities to qualified exempt market clients. EMDs may focus on certain market sectors (e.g. oil and gas, real estate, minerals, technology, etc.) or may have a broad cross sector business model. Clients of EMDs include companies, institutional investors, accredited investors (sophisticated or high net worth individuals who are eligible to trade securities in the exempt market), or eligible investors who are qualified to purchase exempt securities pursuant to an offering memorandum.
EMDs are subject to full dealer registration and compliance requirements and are directly regulated by the provincial securities commissions. EMDs are required to meet all dealer obligations which include: educational proficiency, capital and solvency, insurance, audited financial statements, know your client, know your product, trade suitability, compliance systems, record keeping, client statements, trade confirmations, disclosure of conflicts of interest and referral arrangements, etc.
